THE FIRST DAY

  • What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?

I learned about the beginning of Manaiakalani, the reason it began and the impact that it has made after years of refining and implementation.

  • What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?

I feel that going over the google docs skills and tools has reinforced my own understanding of how to use google docs and given me fresh ideas to use/incorporate in my class.

  • What did I learn that could be used with my learners?

Specifically, how to change the Heading default setting and insert and use the Contents Table. This is super helpful as we head into our school-wide learning around Explanation and Report Writing.

  • What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?

I really enjoy making little posters and infographics and didn't realise that google docs was a platform that I could utilize for this. I enjoyed the challenge of creating a flyer for my class to take home in regards to our production for their performance of Hairspray.

  1. Kia ora Rebekah,
Thanks for sharing your reflection on the day. I'm sure teaching your students the text styles will be really useful for them, I know a lot of people who we work with wish they'd know about that earlier! Your create flyer looks great, sounds like your production will be a lot of fun.
    See you Friday!

  2. Kia ora Rebekah,
I never realised Google Docs could be used to create infographics either so you are not alone in that! Hopefully you will find lots of new tools (or new ways of using existing tools) during the course. Sounds like it is going to be a busy term for you with the production too. Nā, M
