What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
I learned more about the 'Share' part of the Manaiakalani framework and the importance of sharing to promote learning and encourage new and creative ideas. I also resonated with the purpose of sharing to receive positive feedback and the effect it has on the learner of raising their self-esteem and confidence.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
I enjoyed having a go with the Google Forms, I think that this could be an incredibly useful tool especially for spelling tests like in the example we were shown.
What did I learn that could be used with my learners, how could they use it?
As mentioned above and I think the My Maps feature allows for a lot of creative exploration and could easily be linked into Maths, Geography or Social Studies topics.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
I took some time to reflect upon how sharing has impacted me as a professional and as a person. The ability to showcase my work, ideas and the resources I've made has hugely increased my confidence. Through feedback, reassurance and results I have crafted an understanding of who I am as a teacher and an individual. Without sharing this I believe this understanding would be significantly less - something I will continue to keep in mind for my future students.
Kia ora Rebekah,
ReplyDeleteThank you for continuing to share your reflections on what has resonated with you each day of the DFI. I wonder how many participants come into the course thinking they will pick up great digital tips and tricks (which of course they do) but leave realising (like you) that they have also a much deeper understanding of what it is to be a 'learner', and the challenges / opportunities those learners in their class face on a daily basis?
